Here is the recipe at last!  This is from my mother-in-law in Beebe, Arkansas.  She is thrilled to think its being shared on here :)

Banana Bread

  1. 2 cups sifted flour
  2. 3/4 cup sugar
  3. 1 tablespoon Baking Powder
  4. 1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
  5. 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  6. 1 cup chopped pecans (optional just as tasty without)
  7. ! large Egg (well beaten)
  8. 3 or 4 mashed ripe bananas
  9. 1/4 cup Buttermilk
  10. 1/4 vegetable oil
  11. 1 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract

Blend first 5 ingredients.  Mix in the nuts. Combine remaining ingredients and blend thoroughly.  Add all at once to dry mixture stirring only enough to moisten dry ingredients. Put into a greased 9 x 5 x 2 inch pan (or there abouts), making sure it goes in evenly into the corners.  Bake at 350 degrees ( I think thats about 170) for about 50 minutes, or when a wooden pick comes out clean.

This is a very old recipe.  We hope you like.  Barbara made this just before we married over there, and Im surprised I fitted into my Wedding Dress!  What with the cookies too. . .but thats another recipe. . . . .;)
